The record and its year
Wild & Weak followed on 7 June 2017, again self-released, and again without a chart placing. It sits between the first EP and the debut album, and it is the bridge that makes the jump from one to the other legible.
By this point the line-up had settled into the shape it would keep for years. Tom Griffin had taken bass in 2015 and would stay six years; Chris Antolak had joined on guitar the same year. That stability is the difference between this record and the one before it.
The singles around it mark the change in reach. "Same Same" won a Queensland Music Award for Video of the Year in 2018, and "Labrador" belongs to the same run. BIGSOUND appears in the live register again in 2017, and 2018 is by some distance the busiest year in it: Splendour in the Grass, all three Good Things Festival dates, and support runs with Fall Out Boy and with Wolf Alice.
This archive records the EP itself thinly, because thin is what the sources support. The date and the format are firm. What surrounds it is where the evidence actually is.
